
Jazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam has been a previous back-up singer with Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her an opportunity to be the curator of the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She and her family later moved into the landmark. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with the vocal music major. Sullivan performed as the contralto singer for the choir for children and later sang in the adult choir. Sullivan was not exposed to the world of secular music for the first time. "I was singing for the first time solo at church and a person asked me to commit to record a gospel song when I was eleven. But I wasn't prepared for the task," she says. After that, McDonald's held a contest for children in large cities. I was selected to sing "Accept What God Allows" in it's Showtime at the Apollo. And the crowd responded very well. She was just 13 when she performed with Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan aged 15 at the time, signed her first contract with Jive Records. The label recorded her an entire album. But the album was never released. Sullivan was later dropped from the label. The singer had a great working relations to Missy Elliott. Elliott produced numerous tracks for her such as "Backstabbers" the track that was produced by Timbaland.
